furniture and upholstery

Natural comfort engineering: high-performance fill and batting for premium furniture and upholstered interiors.

Built to hold its shape. Made to last.

Premium furniture demands materials that maintain their structure, comfort and appearance over years of daily use. Conventional synthetic foams compress and degrade over time, while loose feather and polyester fills shift, flatten and lose their loft. The result is furniture that looks and feels compromised well before its time.

Wisewool™ elevates New Zealand strong wool from a heritage textile into a precision-engineered upholstery ingredient. By mechanically interlocking raw fibres into resilient fills and stable batting, we create natural substructures that hold their form under repeated load — delivering lasting comfort, tactile bounce and material integrity without a single synthetic additive.

how the material performs

Natural intelligence, mechanically optimised.

Wisewool™ keeps 100% of the fibre's chemical and molecular purity, with no synthetic glues or coatings. That leaves the natural performance of the fibre fully intact:

Compressional resilience: Independent testing by SATRA (UK) confirms WiseFill™ retains approximately 95% of its original thickness after 80,000 pounding cycles — the natural bounce-back that synthetic foam and polyester fills cannot sustain over time.

Dimensional stability & high tensile strength: Our entanglement process organises fibres into low-profile, high-tensile structures that resist migration and shifting inside upholstered cushions, seats and backrests, keeping the fill evenly distributed throughout the life of the product.

Natural fire resistance: In independent flammability testing by the NZWTA under BS 5852, Wisewool™ passed against direct flaming sources with no added chemical fire retardants — a critical requirement for commercial furniture specification. Where standard polyester fills failed through escalating combustion, Wisewool™ charred and self-extinguished.

Breathability & moisture buffering: Unlike synthetic fills that trap heat and surface moisture, Wisewool™ absorbs atmospheric moisture vapour and releases it naturally, maintaining a comfortable, dry microclimate inside upholstered pieces.

product integration

Material selection for furniture manufacturers.

Our New Zealand processing line engineers raw fibre into two core form factors for the furniture and upholstery industry:

WiseFill™ (natural loose fill): Resilient wool buds for cushion cores, luxury seat pads and scatter cushions — delivering adjustable loft, natural spring and long-term compressional recovery without synthetic additives.

WiseLayer™ (needle-punched batting): A stable, uniform nonwoven sheet for drop-in seat foundations, upholstered panel linings and furniture substructures. High tensile strength and dimensional stability prevent material migration inside fixed upholstery assemblies.

sustainability

A material your customers can feel good about, long after purchase.

Furniture sits in homes and commercial spaces for years. That longevity makes material choice a genuine environmental decision, not just a marketing one. Synthetic foam cores and polyester fills eventually compress beyond use, ending up in landfill with no meaningful path back into the ecosystem. Wisewool™ is different by design. Because our entanglement process uses no chemical binders or synthetic additives, the fibre retains its full organic integrity for the life of the product. When a piece eventually reaches end of life, Wisewool™ breaks down naturally in soil within months, releasing nitrogen, sulphur and potassium back into the earth rather than persisting as waste. For furniture brands building a credible sustainability position, that is not a footnote, it is a foundation.
