Our PRODUCTS

Wiselayer™ Premium Wool Batting

High-density engineered wool sheeting for structural support, thermal insulation and natural fire resistance. This product replaces synthetic sheeting layers gsm for gsm but delivers a higher compressional resilience as seen in SATRA (UK) testing results.

Wiselayer™ is a 100% natural, needle-punched New Zealand strong wool batting, engineered and manufactured at our Te Poi facility. A specialised mechanical entanglement process interlocks raw wool fibres into a stable, nonwoven sheet with exceptional loft retention and resilience.

Designed to replace synthetic foams, dacron, feathers and polyester wadding, Wiselayer™ is a safer material by proof. In independent fire-safety testing by the NZWTA under BS 5852, Wisewool™ products passed against direct flaming sources. Where standard commercial polyester backings failed through progressive flaming, our engineered wool products self-extinguished, with no added chemical fire retardants. Breathable and chemically clean, Wiselayer™ suits high-performance applications across mattress construction, premium bedding, upholstered commercial furniture and architectural interiors.

Specifications

  • Composition: 100% natural New Zealand strong wool - 36 to 40 micron. No synthetics, chemical binders or processing additives.

  • Chemical purity: Independently verified by the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority (NZWTA). Returns a nil-detected (“nd”) chemical and pesticide residue profile, matching the purity of certified organic wool.

  • Physical properties: High loft retention, natural moisture absorption and self-extinguishing fire resistance.

  • Roll width: Customised up to 2.6m in width.

  • Available weights: 200gsm to 1000gsm.

  • Finish options: High Loft (HL) or Low Loft (LL).

  • Loft (thickness): 6mm to 35mm, depending on weight and finish.

  • Dimensional stability: High tensile strength with uniform density. All weights and dimensions stay within a 5% tolerance, allowing for the natural variation of wool fibres.

  • Shipping format: Vacuum-packed, standardised rolls to maximise container space. Approximately 62 rolls per 20ft high cube container, or 150 rolls per 40ft high cube container.

  • HS code: 560129.

Wisefill™ Natural Loose Wool Fill

Engineered wool balls (also known as buds, pearls or knops) that deliver high compressional resilience and natural fire safety, without breaking down.

Wisefill™ is made of tightly entangled clusters of 100% natural wool. A mechanical engineering process turns New Zealand strong wool into small, resilient wool balls that lock in the fibre’s natural crimp. This gives Wisefill™ high compressional resilience: it bounces back under pressure rather than flattening like feathers or breaking down like synthetic foam.

The performance is backed by independent data. Testing by SATRA (UK) confirms that Wisefill™ retains about 95% of its original thickness after 80,000 pounding cycles. Flammability testing by the NZWTA under BS 5852 shows clear fire-safety advantages over other loose fills: exposed to a progressive butane flame, off-the-shelf polyurethane foam chips failed completely, while Wisefill™ passed, with no progressive smouldering or escalating combustion. Free from synthetics and chemical additives, Wisefill™ is a durable, self-extinguishing fill.
