Sustainability
engineering balance
Redefining raw materials through circular design.
True sustainability cannot rely on vague claims. In global manufacturing, an ingredient material has to prove its ecological credentials through durability, purity and accountability.
Wisewool™ is engineered from 100% natural, renewable New Zealand strong wool. Where synthetic, petroleum-based alternatives fragment over time, shedding persistent microplastics into waterways and carrying a heavy environmental toll, wool has an organic, evolutionary resilience. Approximately half the dry weight of wool is biogenic carbon captured from the atmosphere during the fibre's growth, making it a natural carbon store throughout its working life. It performs without compromise, with an extended lifecycle that delays landfill and naturally outlasts manufactured counterparts.
Because our entanglement process leaves out chemical binders, synthetic glues and artificial coatings, the natural integrity of the fibre stays intact. At the end of its life, Wisewool™ is completely biodegradable, breaking down in soil within months rather than the centuries synthetic polymers require. Rather than persisting as waste, it returns to the ecosystem, having captured renewable atmospheric carbon and releasing vital organic nutrients back into the soil.
B Corp certified: We operate as a certified B Corporation, meeting rigorous independent standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
Zero chemical additives: Our loft and compressional bounce-back not only comes from Strong wools strong robust natural crimp but also from mechanical engineering, keeping manufacturing clean and toxic-free.
Circular lifecycle: A material grown by nature, optimised by technology and designed to return to the earth without a trace.
verified, not assumed
Accountability from farm gate to finished product.
Unverified sustainability is meaningless. To protect our partner brands and earn consumer trust, we have replaced industry assumptions with rigorous, data-verified provenance.
Every kilogram of Wisewool™ is sourced through our network of over 250 partner farms across New Zealand’s East Coast, some relationships built over five generations. Every fleece we select is A-grade and grown on farms that are New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme (NZFAP) certified, guaranteeing independent verification of world-class animal welfare, environmental stewardship and ethical land management.
Our commitment to efficiency runs through the whole processing chain. We partner with WoolWorks in Napier, one of the most advanced and sustainable wool-scouring facilities in the world, where our wool undergoes a specialised double-wash using advanced water-recycling and energy-saving systems. Through the Wisewool™ Traceability Programme, this entire journey is mapped, giving partners and consumers transparent, undeniable proof of origin.
250+ certified farms: Sourced exclusively from NZFAP-certified properties averaging 1,500 hectares, where ethical farming is a generational standard.
Sustainable scouring: Double-washed using clean-water protocols at one of the world’s most advanced, eco-efficient scouring facilities.
100% traceable provenance: Integrated QR tracking that bridges raw agricultural practice and the final commercial product.
For the full detail on how we verify every step of that journey, the Wisewool™ Traceability Programme sets out exactly how provenance becomes a commercial asset for your brand.
